Why This Partner

The Laboratory Matters as Much as the Doctor

In IVF, much of what decides the outcome happens out of sight — in the lab, where eggs are fertilised and embryos are grown, tested and frozen. SAGA was built around that laboratory, and every patient is followed by the treating doctor and the embryology team from the first assessment to the final report.

A Fertility Clinic With Its Own Laboratory

SAGA does one thing: assisted reproduction. Embryology, andrology, ultrasound diagnostics, molecular genetics and tissue banking all sit under the same roof, so the people growing your embryos work alongside the doctor treating you.

Every Sample Tracked

An electronic witness system logs every egg, sperm sample and embryo at each step it is handled. Mix-ups are the failure nobody talks about in IVF. Here they are designed out.

The File Is Read Before Anything Is Proposed

No protocol is suggested until your history, test results and any previous IVF cycles have been reviewed, including the old laboratory records. You get a written opinion first, not a package.

Medical News From Medical People

Fertilisation results, embryo development and freezing numbers come from the doctor or the embryologist, not an administrator. With your consent, the same written updates reach your MedVoyage Global coordinator.

Treatments

  • Donor sperm IVF, including for single women and female couples
  • Embryo donation
  • Egg-sharing and altruistic donation routes
03

Genetic Testing

  • PGT-A — screening of all 23 chromosome pairs
  • PGT-M — for a known single-gene disorder in the family
  • Trophectoderm biopsy at blastocyst stage
  • Next-generation sequencing (NGS)
04

Frozen Transfers & Fertility Preservation

Stored embryos can be transferred later without repeating the full assessment.

  • Frozen embryo transfer, medicated or natural cycle

  • Sperm DNA fragmentation testing
  • Surgical sperm retrieval
  • Hysteroscopy where a uterine factor is suspected
Embryo Creation for Surrogacy

Embryos Made in Tirana, Surrogacy Wherever You Choose

Many intended parents split a surrogacy journey in two: embryos are created first, where the donor pool and laboratory are strong, and the surrogacy takes place later in the country that suits the family. SAGA runs the first stage as a single programme.

01

Donor selection

Fully screened fresh egg donors, with profiles reviewed by the intended parents. Sperm from the intended father or a screened donor.

02

Retrieval, ICSI and blastocyst culture

One fresh donor cycle, aimed at enough good-quality blastocysts for a first transfer and for future siblings.

03

PGT-A on every blastocyst

All embryos are genetically tested before freezing, so only chromosomally normal embryos are shipped.

04

Storage until you are ready

Embryos are vitrified and stored in Tirana until the surrogacy programme is ready to receive them.

05

FDA-compliant pathway

Screening and laboratory steps can follow FDA requirements where the surrogacy will take place in the United States or Canada.

06

Shipping and reports

Export documents, licensed cryo-courier transport, and written reports at each stage for the receiving clinic.

Intended parents usually visit Tirana once, for consents and the sperm sample, or send frozen sperm by licensed courier where the rules allow. The clinic does not provide surrogacy in Albania, and MedVoyage Global does not arrange surrogacy. Check the law in your own country and in the surrogacy destination before you begin.

Clinical Approach

How a Cycle Is Run

The protocol follows your results, not a standard package — and each step is explained to you before it happens.

Assessment

Age, ovarian reserve (AMH and antral follicle count), hormones, semen analysis, uterine evaluation by ultrasound and any previous IVF attempts — reviewed before a written plan is drafted.

Stimulation and Monitoring

Ultrasound and blood oestradiol monitoring. Early scans can be done at home, so the stay in Tirana is only as long as the protocol needs.

The Laboratory

IVF or ICSI chosen on the sperm and the history, culture to blastocyst, freezing of surplus embryos, and a call from the embryologist the day after fertilisation.

Transfer and Discharge

Single-embryo transfer is the standard recommendation. You leave with a written plan for medication and the pregnancy-test date.

Why Tirana

The Case for IVF in Albania

Fertility travel works when the cost, the travel and the time away from home all make sense. Here is where each stands.

Lower Costs, Not a Quote

IVF in Albania generally costs well below UK, Gulf and Western European private pricing. That is a range, not a price. What you pay depends on the programme, the medication and whether genetic testing is needed, and you get that in writing first.

Direct Flights From Most of Europe

Tirana International Airport has direct flights from most major European cities. The clinic is in Farkë, a short drive from the city centre.

Short Stays

Tests and early monitoring can be done at home. Donor-egg recipients and frozen transfers usually need only a short visit; own-egg IVF needs one stay, or two shorter ones if all embryos are frozen.

Used to International Patients

The clinic speaks English, Albanian, Ukrainian and Turkish. Your case is handled in English by your MedVoyage Global coordinator from start to finish.

What We Handle

Everything Around the Treatment

The medical decisions are made at the clinic. The arranging, the paperwork and the follow-up happen here.

Your Medical File

Previous reports, test results and any earlier IVF records gathered and sent ahead with your consent.

A Written Plan

The proposed programme, the tests needed first, the days in Tirana and an indicative cost, in writing before you book.

Dates and Travel

Visits timed to the cycle, with accommodation and transfers arranged around retrieval and transfer days.

Updates and Follow-Up

Lab updates, the discharge plan and your pregnancy-test date held on file, and a coordinator to ask once you are home.

How It Works

From File Review to Frozen Embryos

You speak to your MedVoyage Global coordinator; we speak to the clinic. Most of the preparation happens at home.

01

Send Your File

Previous reports, test results and treatment history. The fertility specialist reviews it and returns a written opinion, usually within a few working days.

02

Online Consultation

A video call with the doctor, with your coordinator present if you wish. Options, protocol, timing and the tests needed are agreed.

03

Tests at Home

Hormone, infection and other tests done locally from the clinic’s list, with early monitoring at home where the protocol allows.

04

Treatment in Tirana

One stay for retrieval and, if fresh, transfer — or a short visit for a donor-egg or frozen transfer.

05

Discharge Report

A written medication plan and pregnancy-test date, sent to you and to your coordinator.

06

Next Steps

Frozen embryos stay stored for later transfers, without repeating the full assessment.

Plainly Stated

What This Is, and Is Not

Fertility treatment attracts more false hope than almost any other kind of medical travel. Here is where the boundaries sit.

No Cycle Is Guaranteed

IVF depends heavily on age, egg and sperm quality and the uterus. No clinic can promise a pregnancy from a given cycle, and anyone who does is selling, not advising.

A Range Is Not a Price

Any figure before your file is reviewed is an estimate for a type of programme. Medication, genetic testing and freezing all change the total, and the costed plan comes in writing.

Treatment Has Real Risks

Including ovarian hyperstimulation, the risks of egg collection under sedation, and multiple pregnancy — which is why one embryo is the standard recommendation.

Genetic Testing Has Limits

PGT-A checks chromosome numbers. It does not test for every condition, does not guarantee a healthy baby, and some embryos give no clear result.

Surrogacy Law Is Yours to Check

The clinic creates and ships embryos but does not provide surrogacy in Albania, and MedVoyage Global does not arrange surrogacy. Laws on surrogacy, donation and embryo import differ by country — take legal advice first.

We Are the Route, and We Stay the Route

Every enquiry, booking, plan and follow-up for SAGA Clinic runs through MedVoyage Global. One file, one coordinator, one place to raise a problem — including after you are home.

Questions

Before You Book Anything

The things patients ask most often about fertility treatment in Tirana. If yours is not here, ask it directly.

Usually once. Tests and early monitoring can be done at home. Own-egg IVF needs one stay covering the final scans, egg collection and, if fresh, the transfer, or two shorter visits if all embryos are frozen first. Donor-egg recipients and frozen transfers usually need only a short visit for the transfer itself. Your written plan gives the actual number of days.

IVF in Albania generally sits well below UK, Gulf and Western European private pricing. An honest figure depends on the programme, the medication you need and whether you want genetic testing or embryo freezing. Send your file and you will get a written estimate rather than a headline price.

Donors are accepted only after medical, reproductive, infectious-disease and chromosomal screening. You complete a matching form and a counselling session, and you can review donor profiles in the clinic’s online database. Matching considers physical characteristics and your stated preferences. Donation is anonymous under Albanian practice.

Not always. It is offered where it is clinically indicated or where you ask for it, and the doctor will explain whether it is likely to help in your situation. It screens embryos for chromosome abnormalities, but it is not a guarantee of a healthy pregnancy.

Yes. The clinic runs an embryo creation programme for intended parents whose surrogacy will take place in another country — donor selection, a fresh donor cycle, PGT-A on every blastocyst, storage, and licensed shipping to the receiving clinic. Intended parents usually visit Tirana once, or send frozen sperm by licensed courier where the rules allow. The clinic does not provide surrogacy in Albania, and you should check the law in both countries before starting.

No — it is useful information. Your earlier stimulation response, egg and embryo numbers and transfer outcomes are reviewed, including the old laboratory records, before a new plan is set. Send whatever reports you have.

You leave with a written plan for medication and the date of your pregnancy test. The clinic stays available for questions and, with your consent, can talk to your doctor at home. Your MedVoyage Global coordinator holds the file and is your first point of contact throughout.

Send Your File, Get a Written Opinion

Tell us where you are in your fertility journey and send any reports or previous IVF records. The fertility specialist at SAGA reviews them and you get back a written opinion — what is proposed, how long you would need in Tirana and roughly what it costs — before you book a flight.
